A Livable City Blogger

I'm not a Planner, nor have I been educated as one. That being said, I've been involved in many large-scope projects of national scale. Some required extensive participation with urban planners across the country, and required active involvement of large portions of the Canadian population. Our mandate: deliver efficient services to meet residential, business, and government communication and delivery needs within an operationally and financially viable framework - in part, using taxpayer dollars. You can bet we were watched, and couldn't please everyone.

Setting up this blog was a favor to someone else. It was to become a vehicle for specialization, exploration, critical analysis, and relevant commentary. Of course, it naturally becomes a self-promotion tool along the way. For the moment, this will sit in limbo while other goals are accomplished. There is just one exception.

I, too, have a voice. I will share what I hear, observe, and learn as I continue being involved in our city. Vancouver has always been touted the Livable City, and myself along with many others can easily disagree on many points. Nonetheless, there are equally a good many pluses to Vancouver deserving Livable status. Additionally, there is a lot of talk about Vancouver right now: 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Creative City and The Culture Plan, EcoDensity, Community Planning, and Heritage Planning.
